About The Rushing Wind

“The Rushing Wind” is a richly woven narrative that combines historical fiction, fantasy, and philosophical exploration. The story follows Mike, a modern-day protagonist, as he embarks on a transformative journey through time and dimensions under the guidance of Ceres, an ancient and wise dragon. Through various historical episodes and mystical revelations, the book explores themes of empathy, leadership, love, tolerance, spirit and the inter-connectedness of all life.

The story begins with Mike’s existential dissatisfaction, leading to his encounter with Ceres. This sets the stage for a journey of self-discovery and spiritual awakening. Ceres introduces Mike to the concept of cosmic balance and how everything is connected, symbolised by the amulet Solarys, which serves as a repository of ancient wisdom.

The narrative takes Mike through several pivotal historical events where he witnesses or participates in key moments:
  1. Ancient Egypt (1275 BC): As a general under Pharaoh Ramses II, Mike learns about courage and loyalty during the Battle of Kadesh.
  2. Roman Britain (77 AD): Through Iseldir, a Druid chieftain, Mike observes lessons in tolerance as Druids face Roman invasion.
  3. Norse Exploration (790 AD): In an encounter between Vikings and indigenous peoples, Mike witnesses love as a unifying force across cultures.
  4. King Alfred and the Danes (878 AD): Mike experiences themes of empathy and leadership during Alfred the Great’s struggles against Danish invaders.
  5. Knights Templars and the Crusades (1192 AD): Mike learns that communication is a key attribute in life generally.
  6. The Siege of Bristol (1643 AD): During the English Civil War, Mike learns about resilience and spirit in times of conflict.
  7. The London Underground (1820 AD): A lesson in perseverance emerges as Mike observes the challenges faced during the construction of this monumental project.
